Q: How do I 1x1 rib on an odd number of stitches?
Full question:
"Hi, Aneeta,
I was hoping to get the first bit (easy) done before class on Sunday, so you
could explain the complicated bit there, but am slightly confused. The
pattern starts with 21 stitches, but says 1x1 rib. But by doing k, p on an
odd number, I get moss stitch. Wasn't sure whether better to up to 22 or
down to 20.
Hope all's well.

ANSWER:
Hi Marie,
Good question! A lot of rib patterns won't have the exact number. What you have to do to create a 1x1 rib on an odd number of stitches is start the first row with a Knit and the next row with a purl. Ie:
Row 1: K1, p1, repeat to end.
Row 2: P1, k1, rep to end.
Then rep rows 1 and 2 until your rib section is complete.
I hope that makes sense.
